2027 general election to be in November 2026.
The National Assembly has proposed an election timetable that will see the presidential and governorship elections conducted in November 2026 instead of the February or March of the 2027 election year.

President Bola Ahmed Tinubu tenure ends on May 29, 2027, that means the next presidential and governorship elections would take place around November 2026, as 185 days before May 29 falls within that month
The Chairman of the House Committee on Electoral Matters, Hon. Adebayo Balogun, said the amendment become needful to give room and sufficient time for the resolution of election disputes before winners are sworn in.He said the amendment would prevent situations where court cases linger after winners assume office
