UK rejected deportation of Ekweremadu
UK -Nigeria
Recall that the former deputy senate President , Ike Ekweremadu is currently serving a nine year jail term in UK on indictment and conviction in 2023 for plotting to harvest the kidney of a young man .The wife was also jailed for four years but has since been released and back to Nigeria.
Recently, a delegation from Nigeria led by Nigeria’s Minister of Foreign Affairs, Yusuf Tuggar, met with officials of the UK Ministry of Justice to seek Ekweremadu’s deportation so he could serve the rest of his sentence in Nigeria.
However, according to The Guardian UK, the UK authority turned down the plea to bring Ekweremadu back home to Nigeria prison.
UK is concerned that Nigeria does not provide guarantee that he would continue his prison term once transferred.
In view of this , Ekweremadu will remain in UK prison for completion of his jail sentence
