The former minister cited  health issues as basis of his stepping down..The president has accepted the resignation and thanked the minister for his service to his mother land.

Alhaji Badaru was widely criticized for his comment during an interview with BBC Hausa Service, in which he said some terrorists could not be attacked because their forest hideouts were too dense for bombs to reach. "

The comments sparked criticism and widely concluded as incompetence. Also he was seen as a wrong hand at this present high rate of insecurity due to no military and defence intelligence background.

Badaru said, “In this kind of war, from time to time, there will be relief; sometimes they will do something that will shock everyone on the ground, although I have heard some say that their whereabouts are known and who they are."

“It is true that their whereabouts are known, but they are people you cannot attack, or they are in the forests where our bombs cannot reach them.

“I assure you that our soldiers are working day and night to see how they can deal with this.”

Meanwhile, there is high level of speculation that the president may be replacing Alhaji Badaru with the immediate chief of defence staff Christopher Musa .
