Ogun State has a track record of enmity among all her former and sitting governor
Ogun State leaders Why ?
Enmity has become a feature between or among any sitting governor and the predecessors in Ogun State .Right from the beginning of this present political dispensation up till date ,the rancour has continue to play itself between or among these my dear Gateway state leaders causing serious loss and destruction of assets and investment on private and public assets .
Let us take the list ,
1. Chief Olusegun Osoba versus Otunba Gbenga Daniel
2. Otunba Gbenga Daniel versus Senator Ibikunle Amosun
3.Senator Ibikunle Amosun Versus Prince Dapo Abiodun
4.Prince Dapo Abiodun Versus Senator Ibikunle Amosun.
It is on record that chief Olusegun Osoba relocated and lived in Lagos for the period of Otunba Gbenga Daniel administration !
On the present circumstance , .the fact that the sitting governor, Prince Dapo Abiodun is in the same party APC with the Ogun East Senator , Otunba Gbenga Daniel has not uphold positive effect on their relationship.
According to Senator Gbenga Daniel media Office release titled: “Political Persecution as Governor Abiodun Issues Quit, Demolition Notices on Daniel’s Properties in Ogun State,”
Daniel said: " We need to call the attention of the public and relevant security agencies to a very displeasing development in Ogun State. At about the close of official work, precisely at close to 4pm yesterday, the 8th Day of August, some people claiming to be agents of the government of Ogun State under the Prince Dapo Abiodun administration posted Notices of Contravention, Quit and threats of demolition on the Asoludero Court Sagamu private residence, the Conference Hotels Limited, Sagamu and the hotel Annex of the former Governor of Ogun State, His Excellency The Senator Otunba Gbenga Daniel, FNSE FAEng simultaneously."
Recall the demolition of DATKEM Plaza Ijebu Ode, a property belonging to the wife of Otunba Gbenga Daniel, Yeye Olufunke Daniel in September, 2023.
We all remembered the international embarrassment on the China trade agreement made by Otunba Gbenga Daniel but cancelled by Senator Ibikunle Amosun .
This emanated from 2007 contract between Zhongshan Fucheng Industrial Investment and Ogun State government to develop a free-trade zone where a massive industrial park was to be developed to attract investors.The agreement was terminated between 2015 and 2016 by Senator Ibikunle Amosun.Three Nigeria flights were seized by French court for the Chinese firm.A Nigeria building in Liverpool,UK was also seized on the contact disagreement.
Senator Ibikunle Amosun has no minute parley with the present sitting governor Prince Dapo Abiodun. Even to the extent of campaigning and supporting another party despite being in the same party .What sustainable growth and development can ever be achieved in such a political climate.
Also ,I feel touched every day that I pass through the toll gate at Sango Ota seeing the then vibrant gateway Hotel turned bushy and abandoned for about two decades .
From abandoned models school to general Hospital ,road and bridges the list is endless
State investments and infrastructures gone graveyard , loss of job for the hungry population but none of these leaders and powers in Ogun State cares .
This political rivalry and power struggle for personal ambition and ego has continue to bedevil the people of Ogun State and by extension the nation at large
