Minister in certificate scandal
The minister of science and Technology, Uche Geoffrey NNaji has been enveloped in certificate forgery.
NNaji dilemma started in 2023 when he was nominated as a minister by the present President Bola Ahmed Tinubu
The aftermath of the insinuation by the watchdog in the Society lead to the disclaimer by the University of Nigeria, Nsukka ( UNN) .
In a letter dated October 2, 2025, and signed by the Vice-Chancellor, Prof. Simon Ortuanya, UNN disowned the certificate currently being paraded by the minister.
“From every available record and information from the University of Nigeria, Nsukka, we are unable to confirm that Mr Geoffrey Uchechukwu Nnaji, the current Minister of Science and Technology, graduated from the University of Nigeria in July 1985, as there are no records of his completion of study in the University of Nigeria, Nsukka.
“Following from above, the University of Nigeria, Nsukka DID NOT and consequently, COULD NOT have issued the purported certificate, or at all, in July 1985 to Mr Geoffrey Uchechukwu Nnaji, the current Minister of Science and Technology.
Earlier ,the National Youth Service Corp has also disassociate the agency from the service discharge certificate presented to the National assembly for screening and clearance as a minister.
It was noted that the signatory officer on NNaji certificate has not assume office as at the time of his discharge on the purported NYSC certificate.
This called for concern the level of check and scrutiny on the screening procedure of the National assembly
This is a serious case because the origin of the certificates that the minister has been parading called for serious security check.
